Come On In! The Waters Fine!

Come On In! The Waters Fine!

Today, because of a lack of teaching, many Christians see water baptism as optional. Because of this, they not only disobey God’s command to do so but they miss out on its many benefits. Fear of water, pride, or embarrassment of messy hair, are but a few reasons which have kept many from the waters of baptism.

God always has a purpose in what He does. The very nature of God is love and so he wants to bless us. When it comes to asking for our obedience the purpose is always to bless. There are a number of blessings that come through this one act of obedience. Below I’ve listed a few. If you want a more thorough understanding of these blessings, please see me and I’ll be glad to take you through a 30 minute teaching.
The “old man” is buried and we are now dead to sin. (Rom.6:1-12)
Baptized into the identification of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.
It is a sign of the New Testament covenant (Col 2:11-12)
We are clothed in Christ (Gal.3:27)
The enemy’s (devil) hold is cut off. (1Cor.10:1-2)
Break from the past. (1Peter 3:20).
Clear conscience (1Peter 3:20-21)
We take on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matt.28:19).

Many people experience such things as great joy, peace and excitement. Some have been known to be baptized in the Holy Spirit at the time of their baptism. Others hear the voice of God. Sometimes people will “prophecy” to you after the baptism. There is no “A” typical experience we can expect other than you will get wet (fully) and you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you have obeyed the will of God.

Remember, baptism doesn’t make you a Christian; it shows publicly you are one. With all this in mind, don’t delay; make arrangements to be water baptized ASAP!
